Yes! Make sure to notify us before you travel. We'll make a note on your account so that we don't misinterpret the unusual usage as fraud and you can use your card. Personal account customers can choose up to three geographic areas using the card controls feature on the Ameris Bank Mobile Banking App and Online Banking. You may also call our Customer Service Center at 866-616-6020.
You can activate your Ameris Bank Debit Card by calling 800.236.2442 and selecting option 5, or you can use your card at an ATM or in-person with your PIN at checkout.
You may use an Ameris Bank debit card at any Ameris Bank ATM free of charge. If you use a non-Ameris Bank ATM, you may incur a service charge fee in addition to any ATM service charge assessed by the owner of the ATM. See our Miscellaneous Services Pricing Guide for details.
You can get a replacement Debit Card by visiting your local branch for an instantly issued new card or by calling our Customer Service Center at 866-616-6020 to order a replacement card.
If you Debit Card is lost or stolen, please report it right away by calling 800-236-2442.
To temporarily increase your daily limits for purchases, call us at 866-616-6020.
If your Ameris Bank debit card is stolen, please call 800-236-2442 immediately. Also, call our Customer Service Team at 866-616-6020 for account and fraud assistance. Once your debit card or account is closed no further activity can take place.
Unfortunately, once a merchant or business has an authorization on your Ameris Bank Debit Card, it cannot be stopped. To dispute a transaction(s), please call us at 866-616-6020. You can also visit your local branch to complete the necessary paperwork.
Yes, you can use your debit card for contactless payments and online purchases through participating merchants.
Open a personal checking account, savings account, money market account or CD online by clicking the "open online" link on each account's webpage. Complete the simple steps on each page to provide information and set your account preferences. When you're done, you'll receive an email outlining next steps.
For faster account opening, please have the following information on hand when you begin your application:
* Your Social Security number
* Your current U.S. residential address
* A form of documentary identification such as driver's license, state ID or passport
* Your email address
* Your current account number to make your opening deposit into your new Ameris Bank account
* Co-applicant's personal information (if applicable).
Ameris Bank now issues contactless cards. If your card has the contactless symbol, you're ready to tap, pay, and go at participating merchants. If your card does not have the contactless symbol and you would like to make contactless payments, vist your nearest branch or contact us at 866-616-6020 to order a new card.
You'll need the same information that's needed when opening an individual account, but you'll need it for both applicants.

Non U.S citizens may open an account in person at any Ameris Bank location.
To make your initial deposit, you can transfer money from your account at another bank, send a check or money order or use the mobile deposit feature within the Ameris Bank Mobile Banking App. For checking, savings and money market accounts, you may also visit an Ameris Bank branch to make an initial deposit. Depending on the method selected for funding your account, please allow up to 6 business days after the account is successfully opened for funds to transfer and be available in your account. Please ensure that you have sufficient funds available to be transferred.
Funding limits vary by type of account. Please refer to the funding page for these limits when you are opening your account.
We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to ensure your online information is passed to us securely. This technology provides a minimal risk of external violation because it establishes secure sessions with internet sites.
Your account may be opened immediately or up to 2 business days after you complete online account opening. We’ll send you an email letting you know if your account is opened and any next steps.
When opening your account online, you will be presented several account opening documents to review and accept. You can save these documents or print them. These are the same documents provided by a banker when an account is opened inside a bank branch.
Yes, if you need more time, you can save what you’ve already entered for up to 60 days and complete the account opening later. To save what you have already entered, you’ll need to provide some personal information such as your last name, email address and the last 4 digits of your social security number. When you’re ready to complete your online account opening, either follow the link in the email sent to you or access your saved work HERE.

Most checks our customers deposit can be processed with mobile deposit, but there are some exceptions. Refer to the Mobile Banking Service Agreement that is displayed when you begin a deposit in the app for details.
No. There is no limit to the number of items you can deposit to your account, but there may be limits on the dollar amount that can be deposited. Refer to the Mobile Deposit notice that appears in the app when you begin a deposit for more details.
Yes. Sign the back of the check and write "For Ameris Bank Mobile Deposit Only."
After you make your mobile deposit, write "VOID" on the front and keep it for 45 days after the funds post to your account After that, the check should be shredded.
When a check is more than your daily limit, you'll need to make the deposit at a branch. You can make a deposit in person, at most Ameris Bank ATMs or through the mail. Use your Mobile Banking app to find the nearest branch.
