Helping Fight Hunger

About the initiative

Helping Fight Hunger is a companywide project uniting all banking locations, support departments, community boards, customers and members of our community to one common cause: to collect as many non-perishable food items as possible during the month of October. A food bank in every town with an Ameris Bank location will receive the donation of goods collected at the local Ameris Bank office, plus a monetary donation from Ameris Bancorp.

For the 8th annual Helping Fight Hunger initiative, our goal is to raise 500,000 food items throughout October. Ameris Bancorp has pledged to donate $100,000 to local food banks throughout the communities we serve. In 2016 we raised 825,981 non-perishable food items – exceeding our goal of 500,000 by 325,891 items.  This year we are hoping to once again exceed our goal in order to help make a meaningful impact in our communities!

Helping fight hunger through the years

Food shortage and food insecurity is rising – in fact, recent statics show that the percentage of households with food insecurity is significantly higher in the states within our southeastern footprint. In order to help and give back to our communities, Ameris Bank launched Helping Fight Hunger, a company-wide food drive in 2010. Each year our donation and collection efforts continue to exceed expectations.
