Ameris Bank President Lawton Bassett announces that Brian Parks has joined Ameris Bank as regional president and will oversee most of the bank’s Florida markets spanning from Jacksonville to Orlando to Tampa. Parks will be responsible for continuing to develop and expand Ameris Bank’s presence throughout Florida, accelerating our commitment to commercial and individual clients through our expansive commercial lending, treasury, wealth and traditional banking offerings.

Parks has over 28 years of experience within the banking industry. Prior to joining Ameris Bank, he worked for SunTrust, now Truist, for 22 years, and most recently served as a corporate finance specialist advising middle market companies across the Southeast on complex capital structures. Before he transitioned to a corporate finance specialist role, Parks was the Jacksonville regional president, and in this role he was responsible for leading the commercial banking effort, overseeing budgets, coordinating industry specialty and investment banking activities, working closely with all lines of business and was heavily involved in business development. He has been based in Jacksonville since 2014.

“We are pleased to have Brian leading the Florida region for us,” said Ameris Bank President Lawton Bassett. “Brian’s proven leadership and industry experience will help us strengthen our presence in order to best serve our Florida customers and communities.”

As a dedicated community member, Parks currently serves or has served on the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Jacksonville Civic Council, JAXUSA Partnership Policy Council, Advisory Council of the Small Business Development Center at UNF, The Players Council, Jacksonville Sports Council and the FSCJ Foundation Board.

Parks earned his BBA in economics from Stetson School of Business at Mercer University. Additionally, he is a graduate of both the Georgia Banking School and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
