Ameris Bank Regional President Richard Sturm announces that Greg Clark and Ed Vaughan have joined the bank as Upstate market president and middle market commercial banking executive, respectively. Both will focus on developing new and existing client relationships. Clark will also be responsible for building and strengthening the bank’s client relationships and community involvement through the Upstate area, while Vaughan will also be responsible for growing the bank’s commercial loan portfolio in the middle market business.

Prior to joining Ameris Bank, Clark was an executive director for middle market banking for JPMorgan Chase Bank. In this role, he was the senior relationship manager for commercial banking products, advised on optimal capital structures and efficient payment solutions, and led product and underwriting partners in serving middle market clients in South Carolina.  

Clark graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of North Carolina and earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina. He is a dedicated member of his community and serves as a director on the boards of the South Carolina State Workforce Development Board, the USC/Columbia Technology Incubator, and the Christ Church Episcopal School Booster Club. Previously, Clark served on the AMCREF Community Capital, LLC Advisory Board, USC Moore School of Business Faber Entrepreneurship Center Advisory Board and on the SCBIO Board of Directors. Additionally, he is a member of the Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative and served in the United States Navy.

Vaughan has over 23 years of experience in the banking industry and for the past 18 years he has served in a commercial banking role. Prior to joining Ameris Bank, he was a senior vice president and commercial relationship manager for Synovus. In this role, he led the team from mainly CRE (commercial real estate) to C&I (commercial and industrial) lending and worked on deals up to $50 million.

Vaughan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from The University of the South and earned his MBA from The Citadel. Additionally, he graduated from the South Carolina Bankers School at The University of South Carolina. Vaughan understands the importance of community involvement, and he currently serves on the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Coastal Carolina Boy Scout Executive Committee and is a member of the Public Policy Committee of the Charleston Metro Chamber. Previously, he has been involved with the Cannon Street YMCA as a board member, chairman and past president, as well as a past president of the South Carolina Bankers School and as a member of Leadership Charleston of the Charleston Metro Chamber.
